The Crossbeta Pathway is a system in the body that recognizes and eliminates obsolete misfolded proteins and aims to protect us from diseases caused by the detrimental effects of misfolded proteins aggregates.

Major diseases

Misfolded protein aggregation is associated with the progression of major diseases of today's Western world and aging population, such as Alzheimer's disease, rheumatoid arthritis and type 2 diabetes. As crossbeta structures can contribute to an immunogenic response this provides opportunities to use crossbeta structure for immunopotentiation to enhance the effectiveness of vaccines and to improve the tolerability of biopharmaceutical drugs.
