Chief Executive Officer

Guus Scheefhals (1960) was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Crossbeta Biosciences in April, 2010. Previously, he worked as Chief Operating Officer of Avantium Pharma since January 2009. Guus joined Avantium in October 2003 as Vice President Business Development Life Sciences until he was promoted to Chief Business Officer of Avantium Technologies in 2005. Prior to his career at Avantium, he gained vast experience in the pharmaceutical industry in several commercial positions. He was Business Development Manager at DSM Biologics from September 1999 to October 2003. Before that, he worked at the Division Pharmaceutical & Industrial R&D of Analytico and the Product Partnering Division of Fresenius. Guus holds a Master's Degree in Pharmacy from the Utrecht University.

Chief Scientific Officer

Martijn Gebbink (1966, PhD). Martijn is one of the founders of Crossbeta Biosciences. Since 1997, he worked on protein misfolding at the University Medical Center Utrecht in several positions, senior scientist, head of the laboratory of Oncology and staff member of the Department of Hematology. Before he moved to the Utrecht Medical Center he was for 2 years a post-doctoral fellow of the Dutch Cancer Society and guest scientist in the Laboratory of Judah Folkman at Harvard Medical School. From 1988 till 1996 he did his PhD and a subsequent post-doctoral period at The Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam. For his pioneering PhD work he received the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek price.
